AIIMS Guwahati Faculty Vacancy 2026 - Post-wise Details

A total of 63 vacancies have been notified across four faculty grades. The vacancies are provisional and subject to variation at the discretion of the Executive Director, AIIMS Guwahati, and include backlog vacancies from previous recruitment cycles.

Special Specialty Preference: Trauma and Emergency Medicine

For the post of Professor in Trauma and Emergency Medicine (UR-1), the order of preference of specialty during selection is:

1. Trauma Surgery (M.Ch.)

2. Emergency Medicine

3. Anaesthesiology with experience in critical care

4. Orthopaedics with experience in trauma

5. General Surgery with experience in trauma or Fellowship in Trauma care

For the post of Assistant Professor in Trauma and Emergency Medicine (OBC-1), the specialty distribution is Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

AIIMS Guwahati Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed educational qualification, experience, and age criteria as on the last date of submission of the online application (the applicable cut-off date). Both medical and non-medical candidates can apply for eligible disciplines.

AIIMS Guwahati Educational Qualification

For non-medical candidates (Anatomy, Pharmacology, Microbiology, etc.), the requirement is a postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline along with a Doctorate degree from a recognized university, with teaching/research experience ranging from 3 years (Assistant Professor) to 14 years (Professor) depending on the post applied for.

Candidates holding a DNB qualification must submit documentary evidence of DNB equivalence with MD/MS/DM/M.Ch as per the NMC (formerly MCI) notification dated 31.10.2018. Depending on the training institution, DNB candidates may need 1 to 2 years of additional experience.

AIIMS Guwahati Faculty Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

• Screening of applications is done on the basis of the bio-data submitted by candidates.

• If a large number of candidates apply for a post, a screening test may be conducted to shortlist candidates for interview.

• Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, where they must produce all original documents in support of the details furnished in their application.

• Candidates may also be required to submit an affidavit or declaration as decided by AIIMS Guwahati at the time of interview.

• Interviews will be held at AIIMS Guwahati or any other venue decided by the Executive Director. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

The prescribed qualification is the minimum requirement; merely possessing it does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview or selection.

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Candidates can apply for more than one post, but must submit a separate application and pay a separate fee for each post.

• Online applications without receipt of the signed hard copy will not be considered.

• Candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria as on the closing date of the online application, failing which their application will be rejected.

• 4% of the total vacancies are horizontally reserved for PwBD (OH-OL and BL) candidates as per applicable Government of India norms.

• Candidates already employed in Government/Semi-Government/Autonomous bodies must take prior permission from their employer before applying and produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.

• The probation period for selected candidates is two years.
