Educational Qualification

Citizenship

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

Age Relaxation (only one applicable, whichever is highest)

• Persons with Disabilities: 10 years' relaxation in upper age limit.

• In-service Bihar Government employees with 3+ years of continuous regular service, moving to a higher pay level: 5 years' relaxation.

• Candidates who served on a contractual basis on the same post in a non-private government/statutory institution: relaxation equal to the contractual service period (as on 01.08.2026 cut-off).

• Candidates already in contractual service on the post applied for: relaxation equal to actual contractual tenure served.

• Ex-servicemen: 3 years plus length of military service rendered, provided actual age does not exceed 57 years.

Important: A candidate claiming age relaxation as an Ex-serviceman must submit the relevant supporting certificate at the time of application/document verification, or the claim will not be considered.

Reservation Policy

• Reservation benefit is available only to candidates who are permanent (domicile) residents of Bihar. Candidates residing outside Bihar are not eligible for any reservation benefit.

• SC/ST candidates must submit a caste certificate and a domicile certificate.

• BC/EBC candidates must submit a creamy-layer exclusion certificate and a domicile certificate.

• EWS candidates must submit an income & asset certificate and a domicile certificate.

• All such certificates must be issued by a competent authority notified by the respective State Government of the applicant's permanent area of residence.

• 35% horizontal reservation for women is applicable only to female candidates who are Bihar domiciles, as per vacancy availability.

• PwBD reservation is admissible only on the basis of a Disability Certificate issued by a duly constituted Medical Board (Central/State Government), with at least 40% benchmark disability. Temporary disability certificates not renewed after expiry will not be accepted.

• Grandchildren/great-grandchildren of freedom fighters recognized for pension by the Centre are entitled to 2% horizontal reservation, subject to a certificate from the District Magistrate of their home district.

• Reservation category, once claimed and confirmed in the application, cannot be changed after registration.

• Written Competitive Examination (CBT): 75 marks (out of 100 total). 100 MCQ questions, 100 marks, 2 hours duration, in Hindi and English. CBT marks converted to merit score by multiplying percentage scored by 0.75. Negative marking: +1 for correct, −0.25 for wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: 30% for all categories. Exam may be held in multiple shifts with normalization.

• Work Experience Marks: Up to 25 marks for contractual work experience on the same post in a Bihar Government/statutory body (prorated per year). Counted only for CBT-qualified candidates based on Salary Payment Certificate (Annexure-I format).

• Total: 100 marks (CBT 75 + Experience 25).
