BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 - Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on 01-08-2026 (the date for age calculation). Reservation benefits are available only to original residents of Bihar - candidates residing outside Bihar are not eligible for reservation. Candidates outside Bihar can apply under the Unreserved (UR) category only. A permanent residential address proof is mandatory for reservation claims.
The educational qualification must be from a recognized University. Candidates must possess the prescribed minimum qualification on the closing date of application submission; admission at all stages is provisional and subject to eligibility verification. Special educational qualifications apply for certain posts (Table-II) as noted below.

BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 - Age Limit
Age is calculated as on 01-08-2026. The minimum age is 20 years for Police Sub-Inspector, 21 years for various Level-6 and Level-7 posts (Table-I and Table-II), and 22 years for Level-9 posts. The maximum age limit is 37 years for UR (Male), 40 years for EBC/BC (Male & Female) and 42 years for SC/ST (Male & Female). Bihar Government employees are allowed a maximum of 5 additional attempts after regular appointment with a maximum age relaxation of 5 years.

BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 - Application Fee
Candidates applying for the 72nd CCE are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee as specified below. Payment must be made online through the BPSC application portal. Fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates who do not provide Aadhaar number in the online application are required to pay an additional Biometric fee of Rs. 200/- per examination.

BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 - Selection Process
The selection process for BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 consists of 3 (three) successive stages - Preliminary Examination (Part-1), Main (Written) Examination (Part-2), and Personality Test/Interview (Part-3), followed by a Medical Examination. The Preliminary Examination is a qualifying/screening test only - marks obtained in it will not be counted for the final merit list. Candidates qualifying the Mains will be called for Personality Test at 2.5 times the number of vacancies (category-wise).
Candidates must mandatorily select their service/post preference in the Main Exam online application - no post/service preference claim will be entertained later.

BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 - Exam Syllabus
The Preliminary Examination consists of a single General Studies paper (150 marks, 2 hours, MCQ). The Main Examination consists of General Hindi, General Studies Papers I & II, Essay, and one Optional subject. Questions in the Main Examination papers will be in both Hindi and English. Answers for language-specific optional subjects may be written in Hindi (Devanagari), English, or Urdu. Negative marking of 1/3 mark applies for each wrong answer in the Preliminary Examination. How to Apply for BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026
Applications must be submitted online only through the BPSC Online Application Portal (bpsconline.bihar.gov.in), accessible on the official website https://bpsc.bihar.gov.in. Hard copy applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. The online portal will be active from 07-05-2026 to 31-05-2026. New users must complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the BPSC portal - only one OTR per candidate is permitted. Multiple OTR registrations can lead to rejection of candidature.
All supporting documents must be uploaded in PDF format (max 100 KB per document) at the time of filling the online application. A valid and working email ID and mobile number are mandatory and must be kept active until final results are published. Candidates must upload a live webcam photograph during application - the background must be white or light-coloured with sufficient light. Hindi and English signatures must both be scanned and uploaded (jpg/jpeg format, max 15 KB, dimensions 220x100 pixels).

Important Instructions for BPSC 72nd CCE Recruitment 2026 Candidates
Only Indian citizens with valid Bihar domicile (for reservation benefits) are eligible to apply; candidates from outside Bihar can apply under UR category only.
