BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026 - Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the cut-off date 01-08-2025. Indian citizenship is mandatory. Male, Female and Third Gender candidates can apply. The benefit of any reservation (including 35% women reservation) is admissible only to original residents (Mool Niwasi) of Bihar State. BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026 - Application Fee

Candidates applying for the post of Havildar Instructor are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee as specified below. The fee must be paid online through the BPSSC application portal via Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI. Bank charges for using Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking will be borne by the candidates. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Applications for which fee has been charged back by the bank will be rejected and legal action may also be taken.

BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026 - Selection Process

The selection process for BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026 consists of 2 (two) successive stages - a Written Competitive Examination of 100 marks (MCQ/Objective type, 2 hours) and a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) of 100 marks. The written examination is only qualifying for the PET; the final merit list will be based solely on marks obtained in the Physical Efficiency Test.

Candidates scoring less than 30% marks in the written examination will be disqualified from the Physical Efficiency Test. Based on written exam marks, candidates equal to 5 (five) times the number of vacancies for each reservation category will be shortlisted for PET. The appointing authority for selected candidates is the Commandant, Bihar Home Guard, Patna.

Physical Efficiency Test standards and process are the same as those prescribed for the post of Constable in Bihar Police. PET consists of three events - Running, Shot Put, and High Jump. Candidates must qualify each event separately. Only 3 chances are given for Shot Put and High Jump.

How to Apply for BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026

Applications must be submitted online only through the BPSSC website. Hard copy of applications need not be sent to the Commission. Candidates should visit https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in and click on the "Home Guard" tab, then click the link related to Advt. No. 05/2026 to begin the application process. Only one online application can be submitted per candidate. If multiple applications are submitted by a candidate, all will be rejected and legal action may also be taken.

The online application is filled in two parts. In Part 1, candidates register with their name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, domicile, reservation category, gender, and date of birth, followed by fee payment. After successful payment, Registration ID and Password are sent via SMS and Email. In Part 2, candidates fill in father/husband name, mother's name, address, educational qualifications, upload photograph and signature, and finally submit the application.

Photo and Signature Upload Requirements:

  • Photograph: Colour, taken within last 2 months, white background, between 15-25 KB, .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format

  • Signature: In English and Hindi (black or blue ink), separate, white background, between 15-25 KB, .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format

Important Instructions for BPSSC Havildar Instructor Recruitment 2026 Candidates

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply. Male, Female and Third Gender candidates can apply.

  • All reservations (including 35% women's reservation) are applicable only to original residents (Mool Niwasi) of Bihar State. Candidates from other states must apply as Unreserved/General.

  • Married female candidates found pregnant at the time of Running/Physical Efficiency Test (as per medical report) will not be allowed to participate and will be declared disqualified. Married female candidates must submit a declaration that they are not pregnant.

  • Candidates must ensure they fulfill all eligibility criteria before applying. False information in applications will lead to rejection and legal action.

  • No hard copy of application to be sent to the Commission - online submission only.

  • Examination fee is non-refundable; fee charged back from bank will result in rejection and legal action.
