  Canara Bank Apprentice Eligibility Criteria

  All eligibility conditions, including age and qualification, are computed as on 01.09.2026 (inclusive). The tables below summarise the main conditions.

  Canara Bank Apprentice Qualification

  Educational Qualification	A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a university recognized by the Govt. of India, or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
  Graduation Passing Window	Candidates must have passed their Graduation not earlier than 01.01.2023 and not later than 01.09.2026 (both days inclusive).
  Test of Local Language	Candidates who produce a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/ certificate showing they studied the opted local language will not have to take the local language test. For other candidates, the test will be conducted when they are called for Document Verification. Candidates who fail to qualify will not be engaged as apprentices.
  Physical/ Medical Fitness	Engagement is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit as per the requirement of the Bank.

  Canara Bank Apprentice Age Limit

  The age limit is a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 28 years as on 01.09.2026. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.09.1998 and not later than 01.09.2006 (both days inclusive). The maximum age limit applies to General Category and EWS candidates.

  Other Eligibility Conditions and Notes

  1. Age relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates is allowed on a cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted.

  2. Candidates seeking age relaxation must submit the necessary certificate(s) in original along with photocopies at the time of document verification/ reporting for On-the-Job training and at any later stage required by the Bank.

  3. Reservation for PwBD is horizontal and within the overall training vacancies for the State.

  4. No Ex-servicemen/ Disabled Ex-Servicemen shall be engaged as an apprentice, and there is no reservation for them in this engagement.

  5. The candidate should not have undergone Apprenticeship Training with Canara Bank or any other organization earlier, should not be pursuing Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act 1961, and should not have been terminated during Apprenticeship Training due to their own fault.

  6. Candidates who have undergone training or have job experience of one or more years after completing their educational qualification are not eligible.

  7. SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwBD candidates need a Caste/ Category Certificate issued by a competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India.

  8. OBC candidates need a valid OBC certificate with a non-creamy layer clause. OBC candidates who come under the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation and should indicate their category as General in the online application.

  Canara Bank Apprentice Reservation Details

  Reservation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ PwBD candidates is as per the prescribed reservation percentages of the respective States/ UTs as per Government guidelines. Candidates from reserved categories, including those for whom no reservation is mentioned, may apply for unreserved vacancies if they fulfil all eligibility conditions applicable to the unreserved category.

  PwBD Reservation

  Under section 34 of "The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016", persons with benchmark disabilities are eligible for reservation. The post is identified as suitable for the following disability categories as defined in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.

  • Visual Impairment (VI): Persons with blindness (total absence of sight; visual acuity less than 3/ 60 or less than 10/ 200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible correction; or limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of less than 10 degrees) or low vision (visual acuity not exceeding 6/ 18 or less than 20/ 60 up to 3/ 60 or up to 10/ 200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible correction; or limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of less than 40 degrees up to 10 degrees).

  • Hearing Impaired (HI): Deaf (70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears) or Hard of Hearing (60 DB to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears).

  • Orthopedically Challenged/ Locomotor Disability (OC/ LD): Inability to execute distinctive activities associated with movement of self and objects resulting from affliction of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or both, including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism (adult height of 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimeters) or less), Muscular Dystrophy, Acid Attack Victims, Spinal Deformity and Spinal Injury without any associated neurological/ limb dysfunction.

  • Intellectual Disability (ID): Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disability (SLD) and Mental Illness (MI), as defined in the notification.

  • Multiple Disabilities: Multiple disabilities among the categories above.

  Only persons with benchmark disabilities are eligible for reservation. A benchmark disability means not less than 40% of a specified disability, as certified by the certifying authority. Candidates must submit a disability certificate issued by a Competent Authority as per Government of India guidelines, which is subject to verification or re-verification at any point. PwBD reservation is not applicable on the basis of a temporary disability certificate. It is only for persons with irreversible permanent benchmark disability in terms of O.M. No. 36035/ 8/ 2023-Estt. (Res-II) dated 19.05.2023 of DoPT. Government guidelines may change from time to time.

  EWS Reservation

  • Persons not covered under the reservation schemes for SC, ST and OBC, and whose family gross annual income is below Rs. 8.00 lakh, are identified as EWS. Income includes all sources (salary, agriculture, business, profession, etc.) for the financial year prior to the year of application.

  • Families owning any of these assets are excluded irrespective of income: 5 acres of agricultural land and above; a residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above; a residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities; a residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than notified municipalities.

  • Property held in different locations or cities is clubbed for the land or property holding test.

  • The EWS benefit requires an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India. Shortlisted candidates must bring it at document verification.

  • "Family" includes the candidate, parents and siblings below 18 years, and the spouse and children below 18 years.

  Canara Bank Apprentice Stipend and Salary

  Selection Procedure:

  • Merit List: A merit list will be prepared State-wise in descending order based on marks/percentage obtained in 12th Std (HSC/10+2)/Diploma Examination. In case of a tie, candidates will be ranked by age in descending order.

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Not less than 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in 12th Std (HSC/10+2)/Diploma Examination. Fractions will be ignored (e.g., 59.99% treated as less than 60%).

  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification to verify eligibility and information submitted in the online application.

  1. Register on the apprenticeship portal https://nats.education.gov.in before applying. Ensure 100% complete profile on the portal.

  2. Visit the Bank’s website www.canarabank.bank.in → Careers → Recruitment → Engagement of Graduate Apprentices in Canara Bank under Apprentices Act, 1961 for FY 2026-27.

  3. Click on ‘CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION’ to register by entering basic information. Note the Provisional Registration Number and Password generated.

  4. Upload scanned photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm), signature, left thumb impression, and hand-written declaration as per specifications.

  5. Fill in all fields in the online application form carefully, including NATS enrollment ID.

  6. Pay the application fee online using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets.

  Documents to Be Produced at the Time of Engagement

  Originals with a self-attested photocopy must be submitted, failing which the candidate may not be permitted to join.

  • Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate from a Competent Authority or SSLC/ Std. X Certificate with date of birth).

  • Photo ID: Passport, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License or any other photo ID issued by Statutory Authorities.

  • Mark sheets/ certificates from SSC onwards to the highest examination passed, including semester/ year-wise mark sheets and the final degree, with proper Board/ University proof that the result was declared on or before the cut-off date.
