Delhi High Court SPA & PA Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal, as per instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time.

• Nepal subjects must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India; an offer of appointment will be given only after this certificate is produced.

• Candidates already in Government service must intimate their Department/Office and produce a No Objection Certificate at the stage of Document Verification/Interview if successful.

Delhi High Court SPA & PA Qualification

All educational qualifications must be from a University/Institution/Board recognised by the Government of India or approved by Government regulatory bodies, with the final result declared on or before the closing date for receipt of online applications. Candidates must submit a separate application for each post (SPA and PA) along with the requisite fee for each.

Delhi High Court SPA & PA Age Limit

As on 01.01.2026, a candidate's age should not be below 18 years and not over 32 years (born not earlier than 02.01.1994 and not later than 01.01.2008). Date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate alone will be accepted; no subsequent request for change will be entertained.

PwBD relaxation applies only to candidates with benchmark disability of 40% or more, in the specific disability categories for which vacancies have been reserved. Widows, divorcees, and certain other categories of married women get relaxation up to 40 years, as per Government of Delhi instructions dated 23.04.1984. There is no upper age limit for persons already in regular service in the Delhi High Court, subject to fulfilling the educational qualification – this relaxation does not apply to candidates working in other Government departments, PSUs, or Delhi District Courts.

Delhi High Court SPA & PA Reservation

• 15% posts for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, 27% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 10% for EWS, and 4% for PwBD on horizontal basis, subject to availability and orders of the Chief Justice. There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in Group 'A' & 'B' posts.

• Candidates must possess valid category certificates issued by the competent authority on or before the cut-off date of 05.10.2026; otherwise their claim for reserved category will not be entertained and the application will be considered under Unreserved category, if eligible.

• OBC candidates must hold a certificate issued by the competent authority of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi for castes recognised as OBC in Delhi; certificates for castes recognised only by the Government of India (for central posts) are not valid for this recruitment. A Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued in FY 2026-27 (01.04.2026 to 31.03.2027) is also required for OBC candidates.

• EWS reservation requires an Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format, valid as on the last date of application submission.

• Category or category code, once selected online, cannot be changed at any later stage.

• Candidature remains provisional until certificates are verified; fraudulent claims of SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ESM status will lead to debarment from the examination and legal action.

Selection Procedure:

For Senior Personal Assistant (SPA):

• Stage I (Qualifying): English Typing Test – 10 minutes duration, minimum speed of 40 w.p.m. on computer. Maximum permissible mistakes: 3% of total words typed.

• Stage II: English Shorthand Test – Dictation at 110 w.p.m. (550 words in 5 minutes). Transcription time: 45 minutes on computer. Total Marks: 120. Maximum permissible mistakes: 5% (27.5 mistakes). Deduction: 4 marks per full mistake, 2 marks per half mistake. Two attempts given; best of two considered.

• Stage III: Main (Descriptive) Examination – Total Marks: 100, Duration: 120 minutes. Comprises Essay (250 words – 40 Marks), Letter Writing (15 Marks), Grammar & Comprehension Passage (25 Marks), Translation Hindi to English (10 Marks) & English to Hindi (10 Marks). Minimum passing marks: General – 50% (50/100); Reserved/PwBD – 45% (45/100).

• Stage IV: Interview – Maximum Marks: 15. No minimum qualifying marks.

For Personal Assistant (PA):

• Stage I (Qualifying): English Typing Test – minimum speed of 40 w.p.m. on computer. Maximum permissible mistakes: 3% of total words typed.

• Stage II: English Shorthand Test – Dictation at 100 w.p.m. (500 words in 5 minutes). Transcription time: 45 minutes on computer. Total Marks: 110. Maximum permissible mistakes: 5% (25 mistakes). Deduction: 4 marks per full mistake, 2 marks per half mistake. Two attempts given; best of two considered.

• Stage III: Main (Descriptive) Examination – Total Marks: 100, Duration: 120 minutes. Comprises Essay (250 words – 40 Marks), Letter Writing (15 Marks), Grammar & Comprehension Passage (25 Marks), Translation Hindi to English (10 Marks) & English to Hindi (10 Marks). Minimum passing marks for Reserved/PwBD – 45% (45/100).

• Stage IV: Interview – Maximum Marks: 15. No minimum qualifying marks.

Merit List: Final merit list prepared by adding marks of Stage II (Shorthand), Stage III (Main Examination), and Stage IV (Interview). Stage I (Typing) is qualifying only.

1. Visit the official website of Delhi High Court at www.delhihighcourt.nic.in.

2. Register using your email ID and mobile number and note down the system-generated registration/application number.

3. Fill up the Application Form online with all required details.

4. Upload scanned colour passport size photograph in JPEG format (100 KB to 200 KB), left hand thumb impression in JPEG format (50 KB to 200 KB), and scanned signature in JPEG format (50 KB to 150 KB).

5. Capture a live photograph through webcam/mobile device as mandatory for submission.

6. Pay the non-refundable examination fee online through UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card.

• No offline application will be accepted or entertained.

• Applications received without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected; no representation against such rejection will be entertained.

• The medium of examination shall be English language only.

• Candidates must write their name, date of birth, and parent's/spouse's name strictly as per the matriculation certificate.

• At every stage of examination, candidates must carry two passport-size colour photographs (as uploaded) and one original photo ID proof (Aadhaar, Driving Licence, Voter ID, PAN Card, University/College/Government ID, Employer ID, ESM Discharge Book, or similar).

• No scrutiny of eligibility is done before the Document Verification/Interview stage; candidature remains provisional until then.

• Candidates must disclose any pending criminal proceedings or FIRs in the application form; concealment may lead to disqualification.
