Librarian cum Research Assistant (Group-C)

• Qualification: Bachelor of Library and Information Science or equivalent Degree from a recognized University; Preferably Degree in Law; Basic Knowledge of Computer; 2 years experience in a well-organized Library after obtaining degree.

Eligibility Criteria

• Librarian & Librarian cum Research Assistant: Bachelor of Library and Information Science or its equivalents Degree from a University recognized by the Government. Preferably Degree in Law. Certificate regarding basic knowledge of computer. Sufficient Knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi Language. Experience: 02 years experience of working in any well organized Library after obtaining degree.

Age Limit

• Librarian: Minimum Age: 21 years, Maximum Age: 37 years. Age Relaxations: Women Candidates: 05 Years, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 10 Years, Ex-Servicemen: Actual Service rendered plus 03 Years, Employees working in the State Government: 05 Years or equal number of years for which service has been put in, whichever is less.

Selection Process

Selection Procedure:

1. Main Written Examination (Objective Type – MCQs) [100 Marks]: Tentatively on 29/11/2026 (Sunday). Duration: 2 Hours. 100 MCQs of 1 Mark each with Negative Marking of 0.33 Mark for each wrong/multiple answer. Syllabus: Library Science, English & Gujarati Language, General Studies (History, Geography, Science, Current Affairs), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability, Basic Legal Knowledge, Basic Knowledge of Computer Application. Minimum qualifying marks: 45% for PwBD candidates; 50% for all other candidates.

2. Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview) [40 Marks]: Tentatively in December 2026 / January 2027. Minimum qualifying marks: 40%.

3. Final Merit List: Prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in Main Written Examination and Viva-voce Test.

4. Select List & Centralized Wait-List: Published on the High Court website. Wait-list consists of not more than 10% of notified vacancies and remains valid for 1 year or until vacancies are filled, whichever is earlier.
