IOCL Bongaigaon Apprentice Eligibility Criteria

The main eligibility conditions in the notification are listed below.

• The prescribed qualification must already be passed as on the date of reckoning (30.09.2026). Candidates whose result is awaited are not eligible.

• Only the Graduation/Diploma specified against the trade is eligible. Other branches or subjects are not considered, and no claim of an equivalent qualification is entertained.

• Candidates with part-time, correspondence or distance-mode qualifications are not eligible.

• Candidates with higher professional qualifications such as BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent (or pursuing higher qualification and completing it on or before joining) are not eligible. A declaration is taken at engagement.

• Engineering Graduates, Diploma holders or Vocational Certificate holders with one year or more of job experience after the qualification are not eligible.

• Candidates who completed five years after acquiring the prescribed qualification as on 30.09.2026 are not eligible.

• A B.Sc candidate may apply for only one code (101 or 103). Applying for more than one trade/discipline leads to summary rejection.

• Preference is given to candidates applying for apprenticeship for the first time. Second-time candidates (different trade/discipline) are considered if first-time candidates are not available.

• Candidates whose earlier apprenticeship contract was terminated for failure on their part to carry out the contract terms are not eligible.

• Diploma holders under the lateral entry scheme (Class XII (Sc.)/ITI admitted in 2nd year of Diploma) are also eligible, subject to the prescribed percentage on the aggregate of all semesters.

Rules for Candidates Who Completed an Earlier Apprenticeship

• Minimum one year gap from completion of the previous apprenticeship, as on the date of reckoning.

• No gap needed if the previous contract was terminated due to failure on the part of the employer.

• Minimum three-month gap from termination if the candidate terminated the contract due to health or financial hardship, relocation, transportation, career change or language barrier. There is no waiting period for women.

• Such candidates must submit an Affidavit (Annexure–A) at document verification.

IOCL Bongaigaon Apprentice Qualification

The qualification must be a regular full-time course from a recognised University/Institute in the relevant discipline, with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST and PwBD candidates for seats reserved for them). Where CGPA/OGPA or letter grade is awarded, the equivalent aggregate percentage must be entered in the online application, and a conversion certificate from the University/Institute must be submitted at document verification. If the date of declaration of result is not on the mark sheet, a certificate from the Principal giving the result publication date is required.

IOCL Bongaigaon Apprentice Salary and Stipend

Stipend per month is payable as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973, the Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and the Corporation's guidelines. The exact amount is not stated in the notification. Other conditions in the notification:

• Safety shoes (one pair) and a helmet are provided to apprentices under Codes 101, 103 and 107, wherever applicable, and are returnable on completion of training.

• Reservation for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD and EWS is in terms of the numbers shown in the seat table.

• Unfilled SC/ST seats may be filled by ST/SC candidates on merit; if still unfilled, first by OBC and then by unreserved candidates. Unfilled OBC seats may be filled by SC/ST candidates and then by unreserved candidates. Unfilled EWS seats may be filled by unreserved candidates. • OBC candidates must submit a caste certificate in the Govt. of India proforma stating they are not in the creamy layer (DoPT OM No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 08-09-1993, OM No. 36036/2/2013-Estt.(Res.) dated 30.05.2014 and OM No. 36033/1/2013-Estt.(Res.) as printed in the notification). Non-creamy layer status must be valid as on 30.09.2026. Creamy layer candidates should apply as UR.

• SC/ST/PwBD candidates called for document verification are reimbursed a single second class railway fare from the nearest railway station of the mailing address and back by the shortest route on production of the ticket, if the distance is at least 30 km.

PwBD Categories Eligible for Engagement

The candidate must submit a Disability Certificate from the competent authority as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, or PwBD candidature is not considered. Section 2(r) of the RPwD Act 2016 defines a person with benchmark disability as certified with not less than 40% of a specified disability where not defined in measurable terms, and a disability defined in measurable terms. Because petroleum refining is a complex and hazardous process, PwBDs can be engaged only in identified seats and select disciplines. Apprentices in these categories may be engaged:

1. PV – Low vision, Blind

2. PH – Hard of hearing, Deaf

3. PL – Musculoskeletal (OH-OA/OL), Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victim, Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured

4. Multiple Disabilities (a combination of the above)

Abbreviations: P = Physical; V = Vision; H = Hearing; L = Locomotors; OH = Orthopaedic Handicap; OA = One Arm; OL = One Leg. Deployment of PwBDs with other disabilities is not included, as it may put them at risk in a hazardous industry.

IOCL Bongaigaon Apprentice Selection Process

Selection Procedure:

• There is No Written Test. Selection is based on merit.

• Candidates must be registered on NAPS/NATS portal and apply against the notification.
