Selection Process - JSSC JILCCE 2026

The JSSC JILCCE 2026 selection process is a two-stage examination - Preliminary Exam followed by Main Exam - conducted via Computer Based Test (CBT) or OMR method. If applications for a particular subject exceed 50,000, a Preliminary Exam will generally be held before the Main Exam; if applications are fewer than 50,000, the commission may directly conduct the Main Exam. Scores across multiple shifts are normalised using a published formula available on the JSSC website.

Stage 1 - Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Exam is a single paper of 120 multiple-choice questions (3 marks each) with a duration of 2 hours. There is negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. The paper consists of:

Documents Required for JSSC JILCCE 2026

The document verification stage happens after the Main Exam result. All original documents must be produced at the time of certificate verification; candidates who fail to produce valid certificates in the prescribed format will have their candidature cancelled. The documents must have been issued by the competent authority, and certificates issued before the prescribed dates or by lower-level authorities than specified will not be accepted.

Key documents required:

  • Matriculation (Class 10) Certificate / Marksheet - for name and date of birth proof (this is the only accepted DOB proof)

  • Intermediate (10+2) Certificate and Marksheet - as educational qualification proof

  • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST - from District/Sub-Divisional level authority, in prescribed format as per Appendix I, II, or III)

  • OBC / EBC Certificate with Non-Creamy Layer status (Appendix IV or VI) - issued on or after 29 August 2012 by District/Sub-Divisional authority

  • Non-Creamy Layer Self-Declaration Form (Appendix V) - mandatory if earlier certificate has expired

  • EWS Income & Asset Certificate (Appendix VII) - issued by Sub-Divisional or Anchal officer; family annual income below ₹8 lakh

  • Local Resident Certificate of Jharkhand (Appendix VIII or IX) - issued by Sub-Divisional officer on or after 02 June 2016, or by Anchal officer on or after 19 July 2019

  • PwBD Disability Certificate (Appendix X) - from State Government-constituted Medical Board; minimum 40% disability

  • Scribe Request Certificate (Appendix XI) - from Chief Medical Officer / Civil Surgeon; must be submitted at least 15 days before exam date

  • Sports Certificate (for Sports Quota candidates) - as per resolution No. 1709 dated 12 September 2007

Caste certificates issued before the specified dates or by authorities below the prescribed level are not valid. OBC certificates issued for central government appointments are also not valid for this recruitment.

Facility for PwBD Candidates

PwBD candidates of JSSC JILCCE 2026 with qualifying disabilities are entitled to a scribe and additional time during the examination. Candidates with blindness/low vision, locomotor disability (both hands affected), and cerebral palsy who have 40% or more disability will receive a scribe and 20 extra minutes per hour of examination time. Other PwBD candidates can avail of a scribe if they produce a certificate of physical inability to write from the Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon in the prescribed format (Appendix XI). The scribe request must be submitted to the JSSC office at least 15 days before the examination date.

Troubleshooting and Common Mistakes to Avoid

Many candidates make avoidable errors during the JSSC JILCCE 2026 application process. Here are the most common pitfalls and how to avoid them:

  • Entering name differently from Matriculation certificate: The spelling of your name in the application must exactly match your Class 10 certificate/marksheet - character for character. Do not use prefixes like "Shri," "Mr.," or "Smt." in the name field.

  • Wrong date of birth entry: Enter exactly the date, month, and year as recorded in your Matriculation certificate. No other document is accepted for date of birth proof.

  • Claiming concessional fee without being SC/ST of Jharkhand: Candidates from categories other than Jharkhand SC/ST who claim the ₹50 fee concession will have their applications cancelled. If you are OBC, EWS, or General, pay ₹100.

  • Submitting multiple applications: If you submit more than one application, only the most recently submitted one is valid. All earlier applications are cancelled - and their fees are non-refundable. Submit once, carefully.

  • Not saving each page before moving to the next: The application is multi-page. You must click "Save and Continue" on each page before proceeding. Incomplete applications are rejected.

  • Missing the fee payment deadline (20 August 2026): Registration closes on 19 August, but fee payment and photo/signature upload can be done until 20 August midnight. Many candidates miss this distinction and lose their fee without completing the application.

  • Uploading wrong photo format: The photo must be passport-size (2.5 × 3.5 inches), with 80% of face visible including ears. Background must be plain; glasses are not acceptable. Photo rejected due to format issues = application rejected.

  • Using caste/income/residence certificates in wrong format: The brochure contains Appendix I through XI prescribing exact formats. Certificates in any format other than the prescribed one - even if from the correct authority - are not accepted.

  • Certificates issued before prescribed dates: Local resident certificates issued before 02 June 2016 are invalid. Anchal officer-level caste certificates issued before 25 February 2019 are invalid. Check the dates on your documents before applying.

  • Not taking a printout after submission: The admit card will only be available on the JSSC website for download. Save your application printout and bank challan/payment receipt safely for future reference.
