  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.

  • Non-MP-domicile candidates may apply only under the Unreserved (Open) category, with no reservation or age-relaxation benefit, and a flat maximum age of 33 years.

MPESB Subedar Salary

All Subedar and Sub Inspector cadre posts (SAF, DEF, Arms, Photo, QD, Finger Print) carry Pay Level 9: ₹36,200 – ₹1,14,800. During the 3-year probation period, stipend is payable at 70% of minimum pay in year 1, 80% in year 2, and 90% in year 3, plus other allowances as approved by the government from time to time. Employees appointed on or after 01.01.2005 are covered under the Defined Contribution Pension Scheme.

MPESB Subedar Selection Process

Selection Procedure:

  1. Phase 1 – Preliminary Written Exam (Objective Type): 100 marks, 2 hours duration. Subjects: Hindi Language Comprehension, English Language Comprehension, Analytical Ability, History, Geography, Science, Civics, Basic Computer Knowledge, Reasoning, Current Affairs. No negative marking. Marks of Phase 1 will NOT be counted in final merit. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies (vertical category-wise) will be shortlisted for Phase 2.

  2. Phase 2 – Main Written Exam:
    – Paper I: General Studies (300 marks, 2 hours) – Part A: History & Indian Society (150 marks); Part B: Governance, Constitution, Politics, Social Justice & Legislation (150 marks).
    – Paper II: General Studies (300 marks, 2 hours) – Part A: Current Affairs, Technology, Economic Development, Environment & Internal Security (150 marks); Part B: Reasoning & Data Interpretation (150 marks).
    – Technical Paper III (Group 1 – Sub Inspector Arms only): Mechanical Engineering based, 300 marks, 2 hours, 100 objective questions, 1/3 negative marking.
    – Technical Paper III (Group 2 – Sub Inspector Photo/QD/Finger Print only): Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry based, 300 marks, 2 hours, 100 objective questions, 1/3 negative marking.
    Candidates 3 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for Physical Efficiency Test.

  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): 100 marks total. Events: 800m Run (max 40 marks, 1 attempt), Long Jump (max 30 marks, 3 attempts), Shot Put (max 30 marks, 3 attempts). Minimum qualifying marks: Non-Technical posts – 30 marks; Technical posts – 20 marks. Separate standards for Male, Female, Ex-Servicemen, and Transgender persons.

  4. Document Verification: Verification of all original certificates/documents during Physical Efficiency Test stage.

  5. Interview/Personality Test: 50 marks. Conducted by the Selection Committee for candidates who qualify PET and document verification.

  6. Medical Examination: Conducted by District Medical Board. Physical standards: Height – Male: 167.5 cm, Female: 152.4 cm; Chest (Male only): Unexpanded min 81 cm, Expanded min 86 cm (min 5 cm expansion); Vision: 6/9 (better eye) and 6/12 (other eye) without glasses; No colour blindness, knock-knee, or flat foot.

  7. Character Verification: As per Home Department order.

  8. Final Merit List: Based on combined marks of Main Written Exam + Physical Efficiency Test + Interview. Tie-breaking by age (older candidate ranked higher).
