SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria and Qualification

Eligibility for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is assessed as on the cut-off date of 07 October 2026, and covers nationality, educational qualification, and age.

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain specified countries with the intention of settling permanently in India (candidates in the latter categories require an eligibility certificate from the Government of India).

SSC CHSL Selection Process

The detailed selection procedure has been mentioned in the official notification of SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026. But we are giving you here the short summary of the selection procedure. The candidates are advised to refer to official notification for selection procedure.

Selection Procedure:

  • Tier-I: Computer Based Examination consisting of 4 parts – English Language (25 questions/50 marks), General Intelligence (25 questions/50 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions/50 marks), General Awareness (25 questions/50 marks). Total: 100 questions/200 marks. Duration: 60 minutes (80 minutes for eligible scribe candidates). Negative marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer.

  • Tier-II: Computer Based Examination conducted in two sessions on the same day:

    • Session-I (2 hours 15 minutes):
      Section-I: Mathematical Abilities (30 Qs) + Reasoning & General Intelligence (30 Qs) = 60 Qs × 3 = 180 marks (1 hour)
      Section-II: English Language & Comprehension (40 Qs) + General Awareness (20 Qs) = 60 Qs × 3 = 180 marks (1 hour)
      Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test (15 Qs × 3 = 45 marks) – Qualifying in nature (15 minutes)

    • Session-II:
      Section-IV: Skill Test/Typing Test – Qualifying in nature
      Part A: Skill Test for DEO (Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC, Ministry of Culture) – 15000 key depressions/hour, 15 minutes
      Part B: Skill Test for other DEOs – 8000 key depressions/hour, 15 minutes
      Part C: Typing Test for LDC/JSA – English: 35 wpm / Hindi: 30 wpm, 10 minutes

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks (Tier-I and Section-I, II, III of Tier-II): UR: 30%, OBC/EWS: 25%, All other categories: 20%

  • Merit List: Prepared on the basis of aggregate marks scored in Section-I & Section-II of Tier-II examination only, subject to qualifying Section-III and Section-IV.

  • Tie-breaking: Marks in Section-I of Tier-II → Marks in Tier-I → Date of Birth (older candidate ranked higher).

  • Final Allotment: Based on merit-cum-preference of posts/departments submitted by candidates through Online Option Form.

  • Document Verification: Conducted by User Ministries/Departments/Organizations after declaration of final result.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026

Here is the complete procedure to apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026. The candidates should read the complete procedure to apply in the official notification from the links given below.

The application procedure for is not fully online. Candidates are advised to follow the detailed instructions given below.

  1. Visit the official website https://ssc.gov.in or download the my SSC mobile application from Google Play Store.

  2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website if not already done. Earlier OTR from https://ssc.nic.in will not be functional.

  3. Candidates are advised to opt for Aadhaar Based Authentication during OTR process.

  4. Login using Registration Number and password.

  5. Click Apply link in ‘Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026’ section under ‘Latest Notifications’ tab.

  6. Fill in all required details in the online application form including educational qualifications, examination centre preferences, typing test medium, etc.

  7. Capture a live photograph using the application module (without cap or spectacles, full frontal view, plain background).

  8. Upload scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10 to 20 KB), dimensions approximately 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).

  9. PwBD/PwD candidates willing to avail reservation/scribe/compensatory time must upload Certificate of Disability as applicable.

  10. Preview and verify all details before final submission.

  11. Pay application fee of Rs. 100/- online (if not exempted) through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay Debit cards by 08-10-2026 (23:00 Hours).

SSC CHSL Important Instructions

  • Applications must be submitted only in online mode; no offline applications are accepted.

  • Candidates can select up to three exam centres in order of priority.

  • Fee once paid is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other exam.

  • The correction window (14–16 October 2026) allows a maximum of two modifications/re-submissions to the application; only applications with fee received (or fee-exempted) are eligible for correction.

  • Applications remaining "Incomplete" due to non-receipt of fee will be summarily rejected.

  • The Tier-I and Tier-II exam schedule will be announced separately.
