TNPSC Group 2 eligibility 2026 is assessed as on the dates given in the notification - age is reckoned as on 01.07.2026, and educational qualification must be held on the date of notification (11.08.2026). Eligibility depends on nationality-neutral factors such as educational qualification, age limit, and (for a few posts) physical/medical standards, knowledge of Tamil, and community/gender-specific restrictions explained below.

Knowledge of Tamil

Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Tamil as on the date of notification - either by having passed SSLC/HSC/Degree with Tamil as one of the languages, by having studied in Tamil medium, or by having passed the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by TNPSC.

Restrictions on Applying

• Candidates not belonging to SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC(OBCM)/BCM who have completed five years or more of government service are not eligible, even if within the age limit.
