(a) Valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS, Valid Gas Testing Certificate, Valid First-Aid Certificate, and 3 years' experience working in Underground Mines; OR (b) Diploma in Mining Engineering from a Government-recognized institute, Valid Overman competency certificate issued by DGMS, Valid Gas Testing Certificate, and Valid First-Aid Certificate.

Assistant Foreman (Trainee) (Electrical)/Electrical Supervisor, T&S Grade-C

Diploma (minimum 3-year course) in Electrical Engineering from a Government-recognized institute, and a valid Electrical Supervisory Certificate for Mines issued by the Appropriate Government.

  • Candidates with other equivalent qualifications approved by the Central Government, or a higher qualification in the respective discipline, are also eligible.

  • For Mining Sirdar, candidates with higher statutory competency certificates issued by DGMS are also eligible.

  • Degree/Postgraduate/Diploma qualifications acquired through distance learning/part-time mode (or their equivalent) will not be considered.

  • Since these vacancies are for both UG and OC mines, candidates holding restricted competency certificates are not eligible.

  • All qualifications must be recognized by AICTE/UGC/appropriate Indian Statutory Authorities.

WCL Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

Selection is through a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by document scrutiny/verification and a medical examination.

WCL CBT Exam Pattern 2026

  • The CBT consists of 100 questions: Part 1 – General Aptitude (20 questions); Part 2 – Technical (80 questions). Each question carries 1 mark.

  • Duration: 90 minutes. Questions are multiple-choice with four options.

  • There is no negative marking; no marks are awarded for unattempted questions.

  • The question paper is bilingual (English and Hindi); in case of any discrepancy, the English version is valid and final.

WCL Assistant Foreman (Electrical) Syllabus 2026 (Part 2 highlights)

Beyond the common General Aptitude section, the technical syllabus covers: Basics of Electrical Engineering (Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Law, power factor, safety devices); Power generation economics; Electrical Machineries (motors, generators, transformers); Electric Drives and Control (VFDs, PLC, SCADA, DCS); Switchgear and protective devices; Earthing systems (IS-3043); Neutral systems of power supply; Sub-station design and safety; Overhead lines and underground cables; General electrical safety and first aid; relevant legislation (CEA Regulations 2023, Electricity Act 2003, NBC 2016); and on-site emergency management planning. WCL Recruitment 2026: Reservation Policy

  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwBD/ESM follows applicable Government of India Acts, rules, and guidelines in force at the time of finalization of results.

  • SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates selected purely on merit (without relaxed standards) are adjusted against Unreserved vacancies, not reserved ones; those selected using relaxed standards are counted against reserved vacancies.

  • ESM/PwBD reservation is horizontal: General category ESM/PwBD are adjusted against UR, OBC-NCL category ESM/PwBD against OBC-NCL vacancies, and SC/ST category ESM/PwBD against SC/ST vacancies.

  • OBC(NCL) candidates must upload a valid Non-Creamy Layer caste certificate and self-declaration; the certificate must confirm the candidate does not fall in the Creamy Layer as on the cut-off date.

  • EWS candidates must submit a valid Income & Asset Certificate based on gross annual income for Financial Year 2025-26, as per DoPT OM No. 36039/1/2019-Estt(Res) dated 31.01.2019.

  • Only persons with not less than 40% benchmark disability are eligible for PwBD relaxation/reservation; the original disability certificate must be submitted at document verification.

  • PwBD candidates may opt for a Scribe facility if desired, per applicable GoI provisions, and must submit a Scribe certificate in the prescribed proforma at the time of reporting for the CBT.

  • Ex-Servicemen who have already secured regular Group C/D Government employment after availing ESM reservation benefits are not eligible for ESM reservation and fee concession again, except under specific self-declaration conditions per DOP&T OM No. 36034/1/2014-Estt.(Res) dated 14.08.2014.

WCL Recruitment 2026: Important Instructions

  • Test cities are chosen by the candidate at the time of application and cannot be changed later; WCL reserves the right to allocate or change test cities.

  • No relaxation in the minimum qualification and eligibility criteria is admissible for any category of candidate.

  • Qualifications acquired through distance learning/part-time mode are not considered.

  • If a valid caste/category certificate is not uploaded, the candidate will be considered as UR; no request for change of category is allowed later.

  • Certificates will be verified from the issuing authority; candidature will be cancelled if any certificate is found unsatisfactory or not genuine at any stage.

  • EWS/SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/ESM certificates must be in Hindi or English.

  • Ex-Servicemen must produce their discharge certificate at document verification.

  • Candidates must maintain an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least the next one year; admit cards are issued only through the official website/recruitment portal.

  • Candidates employed in Government/Semi-Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies must produce a No Objection Certificate at document verification and a relieving order at the time of joining, if selected.

  • Selected candidates can be posted at any UG or OC mine of any WCL area and are liable to transfer during their service.

  • The Court of Jurisdiction for any dispute is the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay – Nagpur Bench.

  • Using unfair means, impersonation, or misbehaviour during the CBT will lead to disqualification, possible debarment from future WCL selection processes, and criminal prosecution. Furnishing false information leads to termination of service; canvassing in any form leads to disqualification.
